OATS PORRIDGE

There’s nothing better than a bowl of warm spiced Oats porridge (Oats दलिया) that’s both comforting and nutritious. This porridge in extra special for its Vata pacifying properties. It combines flavours of herbs like cinnamon, cardamom and nutmeg along with the goodness of almond milk and maple syurp. This recipe is ideal for people looking for a delicious and nutrition packed breakfast__ , that is inspired by the principles of Ayurveda and is Vata pacifying in nature.

Ingredients –
• 2 cups unsweetened almond milk
• 1cup rolled oats
• 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
• 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
• 1 teaspoon pure maple syurp
• A pinch of ground nutmeg
• Some sliced almonds for toppings.

Instructions –
• Start by measuring out and gathering all your ingredients.
• Place a saucepan on medium flame.
• First pour in the almond milk and bring it to a gentle boil.
•Now add the rolled oats and keep stirring the mixture.
• Sprinkle in the spices ( cardamom, cinnamon ) one by one while stirring.
•Now Reduce the heat to low & let the Oats simmer.
• Add the maple syrup at last and give it a good mix so that it is evenly distributed.
Cook the porridge for about 10-15 minutes on low heat until the oats are soft and the porridge has thickened enough.
• Let the porridge cool slightly.
• Garnish it with sliced almonds and a pinch of nutmeg powder.
• Serve the porridge warm for best flavour & texture.

Vata pacifying qualities –

•The porridge is Vata stabilizing as it is warm and cooked.
• As the spices ( cinnamon and cardamom) are warm in nature, therefore, they balance out the cold quality of vata.
• Almonds are grounding and nourishing and so are oats. So they both blend to give a smooth texture that soothes the dryness of vata.
