Bisi – Bele Bath

Bisi Bele Bath is a traditional South Indian dish from Karnataka known for its rich flavours and Vata pacifying effects. Bisi – Bele Bath with its warm , moist grounding and slightly oily qualities helps in stabilizing Vata.

Ingredients –
* 1cup – Rice
1/2cup – Toor Dal (split pigeon peas)
* 1tablespoon – Tamarind juice
* 2cups – Mixed vegetables (carrots , peas & beans)
* 2tablespoon – Ghee

#Bisi Bele Bath Masala –
* 2tablespoon – Dry coconut
* 1 tablespoon – Coriander seeds
* 1teaspoon – Cinnamon , Cloves & Cardamon
* 2-3 – Diced Red chillies
* 1/2teaspoon – Fenugreek seeds
* 10-15 leaves – Curry leaves
* 1 teaspoon – Mustard seeds
•1/2 teaspoon – Turmeric powder
* A pinch of Hing (Asafoetida)

Preparations of Bisi Bele Bath –
Dry roast all the spices and blend these spices with dry coconut to make a fine powder.

Instructions –
* In a pressure cooker and rice and toor dal 4cups of water and cook them together.
* In another cooker , cook the mixed vegetables until tender.
* In a large pan pour some ghee and add mustard seeds, curry leaves and asafoetida.
* Add the cook vegetables , tamarind juice and turmeric powder to the pot and stir well.
* Stir is the Bisi Bele Bhath masala into the mixture alongwith Rice & Dal mixture.
* Simmer on low heat for about 15-20 minutes season with salt , garnish with ghee & fried cashews.
